Anyone know the filming location and/or name of the churches shown in this movie, namely the (dark black stone) St. Peter's Church (in "Stonebury, MA") and also the ornate beautiful church (in Austria?) which is gilded and absolutely gorgeous inside, more like a Cathedral?

There are several churches and cathedrals listed in THE CARDINAL's location page. You'll have to research which ones match the ones you are looking for.

Maybe one of them is in Hollood. (In the credits, it says it was "FILMED IN BOSTON, STAMFORD, ROME, VIENNA & HOLLOOD") I'm going to take a wild stab and say they meant Holl[yw]ood lulz.
