1963

Does ANYBODY out there have any idea as to WHERE this movie was being shown way back in 1963? I can't imagine that it was in a regular movie theatre. Anybody got a line on this?

reply

It must have been shown at drive-ins.

My sister took me to the Sky-Vue Drive-in theater in Jackson, MS to see this when I was 5 or 6 years old.

I have to say this movie was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too explicit for me to see and bothered me for years afterward. I'm not kidding.

I still remember there being a trailer for a movie called "The Flesh Eaters" that night.

Wow! I know you posted this awhile back so you may not see this, but I saw this in Jackson, MS along wtih "2,000 Maniacs" as a double-feature at what I believe was the Varia Drive-in. This would have been about 1965 - 1966. Like you, it bothered me for years! I was about 8 at the time and it was SHOCKING! What were my parents thinking? They took us! We usually went to the drive-in because with 3 kids my parents did not have a lot of extra money for frills!

I saw it at the Edmondson Drive In in Baltimore in 1963. It followed a showing of Mondo Cane.

I think "Blood Feast" was a perennial at many drive-in theaters during the sixties, as it played repeatedly at the drive-in theaters near Madison, WI, once on a triple bill during Halloween with "Ten Thousand Maniacs" and "Night of the Living Dead."
Here's something you can do to determine whether any film played at theaters at a given point in time.
Go to www.newspaperarchive.com
Type in the search engine name of the film you are looking for and you will get a long list of links to microfilm on the site of old newspaper drive-in and indoor theater advertisements. You can see exactly where the film played and when, at the cities of the thousands of newspapers contained in the archive anyway.

Of course, you'll have to sort through a lot of stuff having similiar names as the movie title you are looking for. But the effort would answer your question of where Blood Feast played.

Maybe we were there at the same time. I also remember the theme from Mondo Cane being totally different than the movie itself. My girlfriend and I would get a bite to eat at the Varsity and then off to the Drive-in.

This flick made it's world premiere at the Bellevue Drive-In in Peoria, Illinois.

It was in a regular movie theatre, Northland Drive-in, Flint, MI. The theatre no longer exist now. I remember a very gory movie, I was 9 at the time. It was a regular outing taking the family to a Saturday night movie. I am sure my parents did not realize it was this blood-gory type of movie. Probably just thought a regular scary movie during that period of time. I still remember it too this day. Since Halloween is approaching, I did a search and find it will be on TCM 11/1 @ 2:30am. I will watch it 45yrs later, WOW!

I was looking up this movie, as someone wanted to know the sickest horror movie I'd ever seen, on Yahoo Answers.

I dont imagine its an often searched movie, so you'll get answers over the next 20 yrs

This was it !

And I saw it the FRiday night after President Kennedy was shot, of all times in history. ( it mightve been the same day-- but no later than the next night. I will never forget this time in my life )

A friend of my boyfriend thought we should break away from the TV and go somewhere.
( everyone was glued to the TV during that time. NO ONE was on the streets hardly. Much more of a national shock than 911 )

We went to the drive in. This was the 2nd feature. I couldnt stand to watch it.
It was such a sad time in the country anyway. We'd just all watched the President get shot.

Then this horrid butchering movie GAH !!

ts a wonder I remained sane LOL

It never was a first run feature, only a 2nd feature drive in movie. Didnt show in the main indoor theaters.

HORRID MOVIE
