Martini's at a kid's party...

So Mitch goes out of his way to invite Melanie to Cathy's birthday party, and then they spend it walking on the beach (in a full suit w/tie) drinking martini's AND carrying a pitcher for refills?

Really?

No wonder the mother gives them dirty looks as she's carrying out that giant pink birthday cake.

If you were running a kids' party and someone bitch walked off with the martinis you so desperately need, you'd give her a dirty look too.

It's called being classy. People used to dress up when they went out. As for the 🍸, I thought it added more class. Would you prefer beer?

I love beer too. But vodka gets you to a warm place in a hurry.

In 1963 a lot of people drank martini's around kids and my father wore suits even on vacation.

reply

Mine too! The cocktail hour was a normal part of adult life then.

reply

Yeah, in the early '60s I don't ever remember seeing my grandfather in anything but a suit. In his house he'd take off the jacket.

how about buddy who slams a scotch-neat and offers to drive a family home?
drinking was the way the cookie crumbled back in them days.
