These Movies Cracked Me Up!

I remember seeing these movies when I was a kid and finding them entertaining, even though certain things confused me: These kids were always on the beach? Did they go to school? Did they have homes? Did they have parents? Did they live on the beach? Clearly, Robert Cummings was confused about some of these matters as well which is why he was probably studying them in this film, right?

Also remember that these movies were made for the teen market, so the conflicts and values in the beach films are designed to appeal to their adolescent audience. One of the conventions of this genre is that the parents are either one-dimensional(mean, dumb, saintly, misguided, etc.), or they're simply missing from the story altogether.

The opening song's lyrics from the 1st film (Beach Party) with Frankie & Annette pretty much give an overview about where they're coming from, how they got there, when they planned it, how they prepared, etc.................... I love 'em all. TCM had a beach movie marathon Monday night.

I recall a beach party type movie from the 60s where the teenagers had their hand stamped before going into the dance/marquee.. can anyone put a name on the movie, please.

The film was For Those Who Think Young. It starred James Darren, Pamela Tiffin, Bob Denver and Nancy Sinatra.

I'm watching these films this summer and I'm getting a kick out of them.

Usually in these kinds of movies, the parents aren't around and the kids don't seem to be in school.
