Where can i get this?

I had vojtech as a teacher and my thesis advisor in college. I was able to see this movie in his class, he showed a personal copy he had that was in czech with no subtitles, so he had to translate the movie for the class as we watched it.

he explained why the movie has no official release and why it never will. he sold the rights to Disney, who still to this day own the film and have its negatives stored away. they bought the film because it was similar to a film they were putting out and didn't want it to overshadow their film.

So Disney has buried the film and even to this day continue to do so. it will probably never see the light of day besides bootlegs so get them where you can.

don't buy the version that's packaged with Carnival Story!!!

that's a horrible release. it's cropped from 2.35:1 down to 4:3. the picture is horribly washed out. the audio is an English language dub, with no option for the original Czech audio. and the movie has been cut by around 10 minutes

instead, buy the Filmexport release, which is a fantastic looking, un-cropped, vivid, 100 minute version of the film, with Czech audio, and subtitles in Czech and English. I got it at the Bontonland store in Praha, though they sell it online as well: http://www.bontonland.cz/az-prijde-kocour/
