This movie could work as a remake ***SPOILERS***

SPOILERS

At the end, when all the different countries' soldiers/ marines turn up... how could that be? I mean it was a symbolic gesture, but would Literally all the armies turn up that too at the same time.
Too convineant.
NOT.
It really happened like that. This is a movie that could work even if remade.
Not that this one wasnt great.

Ref: FROM WIKIPEDIA
"The government of Empress Dowager Cixi was not helpful, and diplomats, foreign civilians, soldiers and some Chinese Christians retreated to the legation quarter where they held out for fifty-five days until a multi nation coalition rushed 20,000 troops to their rescue. The Chinese government was forced to indemnify the victims and make many additional concessions. Subsequent reforms implemented after the crisis of 1900 led, at least in part, to the end of the Qing Dynasty and the establishment of the modern Chinese Republic."

Thanks

Well, the legation story is a bit more complex than that - there's debate amongst historians whether the Empress Dowager actually wanted to destroy the foreigners and how much she supported the Boxers, whether the Imperial troops really wanted to overrun the Legations (given their numerical superiority and modern weaponry I've no doubt they could have if they'd wanted to). Of course the relieving Imperial troops behaved like animals when they arrived in Tientsin and Beijing, raping and killing en masse (with a few exceptions, namely the Japanese, Americans and British). It would be very interesting to see a modern take on the Rebellion, though it may turn out as anti-imperialist as the original was otherwise.

However, it would be unlikely that all the troops would have arrived in dress parade mode. Would they have marched down the street like that? I doubt it, it's more likely that they would have advanced a squad at a time, secured the perimeter and then moved the troops in via a protected approach.

Mind you, there probably wouldn't have been military bands acompanying them either, which is what you hear in the film. You don't actually see anyone playing, so it's been added to the soundtrack for dramatic effect.

Why do you yutz always want remakes? Though it seems because of you and Hollywood's lack of imagination we are getting remakes of remakes of remakes!

It would most likely be all be CGI extras and not real sets though.
