Very good question!

in reruns, they don't always get all the shows....

I watch waltons on a regular basis...and they only have certain eppies....they always have...

so, when it comes to syndication, all the eppies, one might not be available...two, some of them might be cut off, because the commercials keep on getting longer...and they might not have the money to buy all the eppies, either...

one episode of family ties comes to mind..

when alex was visited by the ghosts of Christmas...

at the end, it he said, oh Mallory, you're not pregnant....and then he changed it to president, when they went what....yet in syndication that line isn't said, at all.

so...

mETV DOES have season 5 all of it.

I think they're anxious to get back to the B&W shows. They have shown the color episodes many times, but the B&Ws only once (they just acquired them six months ago). So my guess is that for the next year or two, they'll rush through the color episodes so they can get back to the B&Ws and get some return on their investment.

But if it were my choice, I'd tell them to skip seasons 6 and 7, rather than 5.

Yes with a few exceptions seasons 6 and 7 were quite bad. The worst of season 6 would have to be THE CHRISTENING that ends with Steve singing The Lord's Prayer. And don't even get me started on that God awful putrid "Vietnam" episode THE GLENN TINKER CAPER from season 7!

Only a few episodes from the last two years are watchable.
They include from Season 6 Billie Jo and The Big Star in which she sings "When I Fall in Love"

Season 7's LAST TRAIN TO PIXLEY, possibly the last episode produced, though not the last one shown is pretty good. It has a series finale feel to it.

The first 3 years are the BEST

annoying.lol. How did the pilot start dating the oldest daughter but marry the youngest

Betty Jo came back after a summer away and she was all grown up and Steve fell for her. Billie Jo seemed relieved to be rid of him cause she wanted to concentrate on her music career. Maybe she knew the truth about Steve. That if you ended up with him he'd expect you to be a housewife and you couldn't have a career of your own.

I know. Season 5 was my favorite season, with the exception of Kate's absence.

Have to say my least favorite seasons were the Janet Craig years.

reply

The best years were seasons 1,2, and 3 IMO anyhow.

reply

Agree, seasons 1, 2, and 3 were the most optimal.

Seasons 1 and 2 were definitely the funniest of the series, but I thought that seasons 4 and 5 were the best as far as the cast. Poor Bea, Edgar and Linda had to go through so much transition between all the recastings for Bobbie Jo and Billie Jo. By season 4, they were set and the chemistry and camaraderie between the cast seemed so perfect. Jeanine, Pat, and Gunilla were absent so often from the early seasons that you never got to know their characters all that well.
