Was Charlie's death acknowledged?

Unlike Kate, who simply disappeared after Benaderet died in 1968, I seem to remember a mention about Charlie's passing when Smiley Burnette died in early 1967 of leukemia.

I haven't seen a lot of PJ episodes in years, so my memory of this is fuzzy, but I recall Kate saying something to Floyd about something Charlie used to do. Right then, Floyd looked down with a rather sad/mournful expression, and Kate put her arm around his shoulder, as if to comfort him.

Does anyone else remember this?

Your memory is actually quite clear on Charlie's death being acknowledged on PJ. As Kate is boarding the back of the train, Floyd shouts out "all aboard!" Then, as you had posted, Floyd looks down and says that he sure misses Charlie. Kate puts her hand on Floyd's shoulder and says "I know." It was a beautiful, tender moment. I just wish that Kate would've gotten that nod from one of the daughters, especially Betty Jo.

Thank you, Flyboy. I'm glad my memory isn't as fuzzy as I thought! Do you remember what episode that was?

I agree - I wish they had done something like that for Kate; a nice simple gesture/moment like they did for Charlie would have be nice. I never liked how she just simply disappeared.

I don't recall the exact episode, but it was one of the earlier season 5 episodes since Kate disappeared for the most part of that season. I just saw it a couple of months ago on MeTV.

The episode was the second episode of season five entitled, "It's Not Easy to Be a Mother".
