With Gloria Swanson...in the end does it turn out she is the daughter?
or was she just lying to the girl on the train?

I don't believe she was the daughter. She was asked by Swanson if she lied and she affirmed it, so her conversation on the train was more of that trait. But there is one thing that I believe she wouldn't lie about and that was on her opinion regarding harmed children. In connection to that,the most truthfull thing she could have done was to phone the police and inform them of the possible burial site. She wouldn't have done this if she were the actual daughter.
shareThis was a marvellous movie and very well acted by the leads Gloria Swanson and Brenda Scott. I also think Judy was probably not the daughter. If she knew she was the daughter why would she be so afraid of what was buried. She did promise to go back though and seemed honest in that intention and I think she really did like Charlotte. It was annoying that the police didn't stick to their agreement they had made with Judy that they would not pursue charges if she worked with them.
shareLove this episode - so fraught with possibilities. And leaving it open-ended makes room for all sorts of speculation. One thing I thought was odd is that Judy could have had a life of luxury just for the taking, but showed no interest in that at all. And Gloria Swanson would have willingly given it to her whether she was her daughter or not.

Why didn't GS want to show her the Mother Goose bedspread? She was willing to test her on all the other things. Also why didn't the police want to let her lawyer see the fingerprints? And how does a 7 year old run away?
