Kimble's Description

Kimble is invariably described as 35 years old, 6 feet tall, with weight ranging from 160 to 175 pounds. The age and height seem accurate. However, the lower estimate of his weight- 160 pounds is ridiculous. Kimble was slender, but well built with broad shoulders and muscular forearms. I can see the 175 pounds as reasonable, although he could easily have weighed 180-185 pounds.

Some people have suggested he looked older than 35. Janssen had a mature face, but he could easily pass for 35, which he in fact was. And he could pass for a doctor, albeit one with a good looking and rugged face. David Janseen was the Fugitive, one of the best characterizations ever.

The series lasted four years, and many of his once-a-week experiences purportedly lasted weeks, or even months; so, his overall escape time could even have been five years or more. But, accepting that it was just four years on the run, that would mean a four-year age range. Yet, as you point out, Kimble was invariably described as about 35 - never 39 or roughly 40.

Was that Jansen's hair?

Not trying to be funny here, by a longshot---just an honest opinion. For the sake that it was "only a TV show", I perfectly understand the reason for the usual, trite, standard descriptions of Kimble, (i.e, Height, Weight, Age)--but REALISTICALLY----any good police report would not fail to mention "prominent ears", or some such description! I mean, I LOVED Janssen & thought he was absolutely terrific in the role. Though, any person would have to admit that one of the FIRST things you'd notice about Kimble when meeting him, were those "taxi cab with the doors open" LOBES of his! That fact of his physical appearance did NOTHING to detract from Janssen's performance, nor from my utter enjoyment of watching!

Dumbo ears.
