Why was this show cancelled?

I remember watching this show as a kid. I loved Inger Stevens. I vaguely remember the wedding episode and soon after the series ended. I never knew what happened? Did the ratings fall? Did the writers run out of ideas? It was only in its 3rd season.

Like with most shows, when the two lead characters finally get together, the ratings drop and then cancellation. ABC pushed Screen Gems to have Glen and Katy marry to boost ratings for the 1965-1966 season. The press department went to work promoting the wedding with interviews, photo layouts, magazine covers, TV coverage etc....Perle Mesta who was Washington D.C.'s Hostess With The Mostest even held a huge wedding reception for the event. The wedding episode attracted about 28 million viewers. After the wedding, the ratings dropped and the series ended. The same thing happened to I Dream Of Jeannie.
