storyline - DOES ANYONE REMEMBER THIS ??

I seem to recall a storyline c. 1967 about a middle-aged woman who desperately wanted to adopt a baby, and a social worker was assisting her in the adoption. I remember, she told the social worker it had to be an infant. If memory serves, Theodora tried to interfere with the adoption? Could this have been the Harriet Wilson character played by Meg Myles? Anyone remember???

The social worker had very tight curly hair, but I can find no one in the cast lists who might have played that character.

I have been watching the reruns of the show. I know nothing about Harriet Wilson, although I am familiar with Meg Myles from other shows and from her singing.

This was at the end of 1967 and continued into 1968. The woman who wanted the baby, Mrs. Winters, was played by Ann Whiteside. Mrs. Winters (a name that Rita Lakin also used on the primetime Peyton Place) was a recovering alcoholic. Her husband was a doctor in Hope Memorial Hospital and was played by James Noble (who was my favorite actor to play Donald Hughes on As the World Turns and was later cast as the governor of New Jersey on the primetime comedy Benson).

The social worker, Mrs. Burger, is played by Margaret DePriest (who had played a character before this on The Edge of Night and became one of that show's writers - she later became headwriter of The Doctors, All My Children, and many other serials).

There is a little boy in the hospital, a patient who is also an orphan. He is played by Donnie Melvin (who later would be cast in a television version of A Christmas Memory and was the final actor to play Petey Dunbar on The Secret Storm). I am pretty sure that Dr. and Mrs. Winters will eventually adopt him. Mrs. Winters presently has her heart set on an infant, however.

Danfling- where do you get reruns of The Doctors?

It started airing 2 back-to-back episodes a day at the end of September on
RETRO TV. Hopefully, you're one of the lucky ones who gets that channel. I
don't have it anywhere in my cable line-up. If you check their web site,
RetroTV.com, they have a list state by state of the cities & channels that
are carrying Retro TV. Good Luck! Episodes started with the first in color episode in 1967.

Harriet Wilson was played by Meg Myles. Harriet was Liz Wilson's mother played by Pamela Toll. I believe Meg played Harriet from 1966-1967.
