Season Two

Does anyone know when and if Season Two will be coming out on DVD?

reply

VCI reportedly made a commitment to release both seasons. So far, there's no release date for Season 2. It wouldn't hurt to write or call them to say you want it. Meanwhile, American Life Network (ALN) is showing Season 2 on Saturday nights at 8 ET, & repeating that episode Sunday evenings.

I just recieved an E-Mail from VCI Entertainment, they are in the process of securing season 2 of Burke's Law.If you E-Mail them at [email protected] and ask they will send you an E-Mail when it becomes available.

I would think that if they got the rights to release the first season they'd also have the rights to the second season. I wonder what they mean by "securing".

I would think that with Gene Barry's recent death, now would be the time to release the rest of the show.

And the good news is this:

"Burke's Law" only really ran two seasons: 63-64 and 64-65.

For the 65-66 season, they threw out the wonderful Big Guest Cast Whodunnit format, tossed Conway and Toomey, rebooted as "Amos Burke, Secret Agent" -- and tanked mid-season.

It was my favorite show at the time- the first show I decided on my own I liked- and not only did they convert it to a forgettable spy show but it was so bad the local station didn't even bother showing it. I finally saw it years alter. I'd been watching Burke's Law re-runs and suddenly a show began with the Rolls Royce parked next to a plane where a government official is recruiting Amos Burke to join his agency and fight the bad guys around the world. Not that a cop in a rolls made any sense to begin with but why would he leave the force to become a spy? The show went from a glitzy all-star who-done-it to a cheap, back-projected pot-boiler with "the usual suspects" as guest stars. Yeech.

Then they brought the show back in it's original format, (for the most part), thirty years later, redid a bunch of the old scripts and canceled it again.

Apparently, Aaron Spelling, Gene Barry, and everyone involved with the show were dead set against changing BURKE'S LAW to AMOS BURKE, SECRET AGENT. However, the network that ran the show (ABC I think) forced them into it. Too bad, as the first two seasons of BL were a great deal of fun. One of my favorite tv series of the 1960's.

I recieved an e-mail from VCI Entertainment. They said they were still in talks with FOX for "Burke's Law" second season.

I asked VCI about this on Facebook...their response was that they had to get releases from all the actors involved in the production, a somewhat difficult task given that many of the actors on the show had passed away.

Funny, but this didn't seem to be an obstacle in getting the first season released!
