I just saw the opening sequence of Astroboy on Cartoon Network (Adult Swim) and was shocked to find that they cut it down to just the last few seconds. The part where the kids sing Crowds Will Cheer You. Everything before that was removed. I guess it's now considered politically incorrect to show Astroboy punching the bad guys. What a shame.
I watched all of the episodes that were shown last night as part of the "Christmas Night Marathon" of Astro Boy episodes. The first episode shown, the origin episode actually, had the full opening theme. Every subsequent episode thereafter, had the opening shortened to just a few seconds....beginning where the title is shown. I think this was just done last night to save them time...for good or for bad. Adult Swim did have 14 episodes scheduled. Due to the longer than usual commercials, I guess, each episode started later than the, for instance, 2 AM 'sharp' time slot. Each episode started a bit after the hour and ended later....not on the half-hour. By the time that episode fourteen was to start (it was scheduled for 5:30 AM), the time was around 5:46AM. The 6AM show scheduled started and that was that. However, the night before the marathon, an Astro Boy episode was scheduled and played the entire opening. It's scheduled in for three nights (actually 5:30AM) this weekend upcoming, and I'll bet the entire credits will be shown.
Astro Boy, there you go On your flight into space Rocket-celled, jet-propelled What adventures soon you will face Astro Boy, bombs away! On your mission today Crowds will cheer you You're a hero As you go,go,go, Astro Boy!
What can I do to be like you And become a real Astro Boy?
I think I'm missing a couple of lines :(
