A blueprint for things to come

This great Toho classic set the stage for many of the modern FX epics we have today. A giant meteor is on a collision course for earth, and scientists race against time to save our planet. Probably one of the best non-George Pal films of its kind, and--alas--long out of print on home video. Here in the U.S., a sequence involving a giant prehistoric walrus was cut from the film...how about a DVD release, with the sequence restored? Excellent model work, and a great way to spend a Saturday night!

The last time I saw this film was 15 years ago. I was pretty young at the time but I remember really liking it.

BijouBob, it's been almost four years since your post, but if you're still interested please check out my thread about the Japanese original's availability.
