I'm currently watching it...


...and I had forgotten about the three-panel Cinerama (I last saw this at the theaters around 1970)... It's somewhat distracting.

In my mind's eye, I remember the reconstitution of Hans in The Singing Bone differently... better than it plays now. The George Pal stop animation wears thin.

I don't remember much apart from The Singing Bone. The film is an overlong snoozefest, seen through the eyes of a six-year-old. But my 45 year-old eyes are more forgiving. The film is lush, gorgeous. It surely must have been filmed on location in Europe. One gets used to the three-panel Cinerama.

Someone must have taken the time to work on this film, to restore its reputed damage. I never saw any problems to panels A or C; however, the middle panel, B, was washed out for a few seconds, on three or four occasions during The Singing Bone. The version I watched aired on Turner Classic Movies, and all in all, I think it's ready for a DVD release.
