Dr. Strangelove and The War Lover

Just watching the movie on TCM and was noticing certain similarities to Dr. Strangelove. Mainly, the intensely naturalistic filming of the scenes in the interiors of the bombers, but, also, the crazed war-monger characters. Anyone else notice the connection?

Sorry but no, not at all.

Nope, not a bit.

I find that the photography in many black and white films can be better than modern CG dark, rainy, night time scenes. The photographers took more care with lighting and shadows and especially background shadows. Twilight Zone episodes stand out because of this. The War Lover interior scenes are well done.

British cinematographer Robert Huke's (The War Lover) filming career goes back to 1945, according to IMDb. Those early DPs had plenty of experience as "lighting cameramen", creating some beautiful B/W contrast in their films along the way.
