Filmed in New Orleans?

I know the movie is set in New Orleans but was it filmed there? I've never read anywhere that it was but some of the scenery is so authentic at least part of it had to be - certainly some of Laurence Harvey and Capucine's outdoor scenes were. Jo's bar/brothel looks amazingly New Orleansesque with it's courtyard and buildings if it's just a set.

Yes, most of the outdoor scenes involving the French Quarter were definitely shot in that immediate area. I've been there at least 50 times and recognized many of the buildings immediately. Because of strict preservation laws, the facades of old units in the French Quarter can't be changed, which accounts for the fact that most look exactly as they did over 200 years ago.
The scene with the preacher yelling at Halle and Dove was shot in Jackson Square. I couldn't place the scene where they were by a lake/pond but they have several places within the city that look very similar. And, I also think the locale of Doll House is in an actual building used for the shooting of the courtyard scenes, though some of the rooms (like Halle's), may have been recreated studio sets.

I'm fairly sure the lake scene was shot at Audubon Park in New Orleans. I knew at least a few scenes definately had to be shot there - when Laurence Harvey walks on the corner onto Bourbon Street I recognized that area quite easily.

No, It was city park. The same park where Elizabeth Taylor talked about the dueling oaks in Suddenly Last Summer.
