An early eerie from Italy

In the late 1950s and early 1960s, the work of Mario Bava helped launch a wave of Italian horror films...some better than others. While THE PLAYGIRLS AND THE VAMPIRE may not be on the same level as, say, BLACK SUNDAY (aka MASK OF THE DEMON), it's still an entertaining little film for late night viewing. While the story and acting may inspire as many chuckles as it does chills, the film--like many of the Italian horrors that played the drive-in circuit at the time--is beautiful to look at. A tip of the hat to Image for including this among their Euro-Horrors collection. Now, how about dusting off THE VAMPIRE AND THE BALLERINA...?

The Playgirls and the Vampire is a must have for any fan of Euro horror. It's got pretty women, gothic atmosphere, pretty women, cool music, nice cinematography, and pretty women. What more could we want?

BEWARE OF THE FOMITES.
