To all of you movie haters, you know what's your problem?

The problem is that when you read the book, and you love it so much, no movie made is good enough for the person. You guys had HUGE expectations, because when you were reading the book you kind of constructed the movie in your head in a perfect way, and when you see a different version from what you kind of had in mine, you behave in a bias manner right away, and rate this movie to it's lowest. I havn't read the book, but had the honour of watching the movie.
I must say that I really liked the movie, i thought that the story and the play was good enough too. I can assure you that if you were to watch this movie without reading the book first and thus looking for all the cons you can just find, you would have really enjoyed the movie like me.

I confess to being a reader who is often disappointed when I see movies based on books, but you make a valid and valuable point. If someone sees the movie (any one) without reading the book, they often have a more favorable opinion of the film! This happened with me when I saw several films with friends who did not read much: "The Shining," "The Dirty Dozen," even "The Cat in the Hat!" People who did not read the book liked the film much more than those who had.

Thanks for making that point!

Ps William Lederer, who co-wrote "Ugly American" also wrote a service comedy called "Ensign O'toole and Me" which became a TV comedy! Remember it?
