Robinson vs Trevor

Boy these 2 go at IT

2 fine & great actors interplaying between themselves and the sparks fly !

Claire gives no quarter and ED.G.emotes a full range of feelings that dominate scene after scene.

I would add, however, that Kirk underplays jus'enuff to bring out the best in those 2 jungle cats ~

Well, that is a clue to which Robinson's character reacts towards woman in general.

Carlotta was ripe for the taking as she offers herself "on a platter" etc.

And during his wife's toast(Clare),another woman is "working under the table" to earn favors for Kruger !

For '62 this was pretty frank material when it came repeatedly to sex, sensuality and unfaithfulness.

Ah,Roma,Italian-style !

postscript:

If this was made today it wouldn't simply be rated R but likely be NC-17 for all intents and purposes a porn picture !

montrossboc-1 says > "Women.....they're all MONSTERS!"
I think it's amusing how the men who say things like this about women, like the Kruger character, and the women who think men are all rotten, keep being attracted to those types of people. It's no accident they think everyone of the opposite sex is horrible. What is surprising is they never seem to understand those are simply the ones they're attracted to and attract. They wouldn't know what to do with a 'normal', stable, and kind person. Then again if they ever got a hold of one of those their actions may cause that person to blow a gasket and become embittered and evil.

Woman, man! That's the way it should be Tarzan. [Tarzan and his mate]

Certainly, at some points in their lives, almost all heterosexual men have thought to themselves "Women, they're all monsters", as I am sure almost all heterosexual women have thought "Men, they're all monsters".

If you want to see a 'monster', yet in some ways 'on the money' depiction of a woman, watch "Ex Machina".

Claire Trevor was amazing! Just about stole every scene she was in. Played a great bitch! I love her in "How To Murder Your Wife".

Ought to have been nominated..

Claire gave a whale of a performance: intense and well-rounded ~

I really enjoyed watching Claire Trevor dish it out to Edward G Robinson. For me, she was just getting her own back after the way his character in Key Largo treated her. He was so mean making her sing in a pathetic way for a drink and then not giving it to her.

In this case the liquor was flowing and Claire was drinking her share and then some.

Idk, Trevor's constant screeching hysteria got old pretty fast and Robinson's work here was also rather unremarkable by his standards. Like pretty much everyone in this film, their characters seemed somewhat underdeveloped from the get-go though.
