The Stunning Jocelyn (Jackie) Lane

Without a doubt, Jocelyn was the prettiest co-star Elvis ever had (do I hear any arguements?). This film showcases her at her best. She was a combination of Brigitte Bardot and Sharon Tate. She was also Glenn Ford's main squeeze in 1964-65.

I put her second to Shelley Fabares. She is so sweet & hot in Girl Happy. Jocelyn Lane is also increbibly hot in those short shorts. Loved seeing her in a bikini as well!

reply

I agree. Shelly Fabares is my favorite Elvis co-star by far. As you said, she was so beautiful and came across as more sweet and sincere. The emotion she shows and her sexy lips always gets me.

Jocelyn, beauty wise, I think is 2nd. Then Ann-Margret (she loves me, she loves me not).

Also the very charming bundle-of-joy Deborah Walley. She just needed a bigger role in an Elvis movie.

I know I'm rambling now, but anyone remember that total knockout from Kid Galahad? Forget her name but WOW!! That movie had the best way Elvis met a co-star on screen. After working outside he came into the building and there was this angel who turned around from the bar and Elvis was stunned. Whoooaaa!

He stumbles through an introduction then was called to come back outside and as he did he backed up against the door. Still fazed. I "think" her name was Joan Blackman. She was also in Blue Hawaii but looked far better in Kid Galahad.

I think the girls mentioned in this string (Jocelyn, Shelley and Ann-Margret)are probably the top 3 beauties Elvis cavorted with. I think Shelley is really a good looking girl next door type and number 3, with Ann coming in at no. 2. To my mind Jocelyn Lane is one of the sexiest actresses ever with a stunning face, so that said, clearly Elvis' no. 1 co-starlet.

reply

Okay, Shelly Fabres was cute, Ann-Margret was yet to mature into a Goddess, and Jocelyn was a classy combo of face and figure, but this list of sexy actresses from Presley Philms ignores some world class babes. Let's not forget Debra Paget (who spurned Elvis's advances during the filming of "Love Me Tender" to the point where he never got over it...and effected him so much so that when he got married, the girl he wed, Priscilla, looked exactly like Debra! A coincidence?). What about Ursula Andress? Stella Stevens? Barbara Eden? Mariana Hill? Tuesday Weld? Nancy Kovack? And the legendary Beverly Powers (who changed her last name to Hills and went on to star in "A Comedy of Terrors" with Vincent Price...check her out..vava-voom). Yes, Ann-Margret was still pretending to be a sex kitten in "Viva Las Vegas" but she eventually learned not to try so hard and become somewhat more subtle. Her ultimate sexy film role, ignoring "Carnal Knowledge", was in "The Cheap Detective" with Peter Falk. Unbelievable! And how can you leave out Raquel Welch ("Roustabout")? A bit part and uncredited, yes, but she was still in the movie (yeah, I'm stretching a bit here).

reply

Hey McEvoy, glad you could join Jocelyn's party!

Actually, you bring up quite a number of lookers, and of course I will suggest when you are comparing two scintillating babes like Ms Margret and the incomparable Jocy, then there really is no loser. Of the ones you cited, my personal opinion is that only Barbara Eden and Debra Paget can join this elite grouping. In fact I had forgot about Debra when I threw up my survey and I am actually going to nix Shelley from my top three now, and jettison Debra all the way to no. 2 on my all time Elvis babe rave. I had also forgot, as you did, the sultry Mary Ann Mobley, who also merits some honorable mention here.

Good catch on Raquel, but I think we have to disqualify her as her part was just too miniscule here. Isn't this the 2nd time we have had to disqualify her? How dare we.

reply

As much as it pains me, I would have to put Mary Ann Mobley in the Shelly Fabres class...too safe and syrupy sweet to be sexy or even alluring. And yes, poor Raquel dissed again. Someday there will be a category where she will qualify for serious consideration, like "The Greatest Combination of Face and Figure in the Post-Industrial World" or something. Gee...by jettisoning Debra Paget to #2 and nixing Shelly Fabres then can I hazard the guess that Jocelyn is #1? How can you also dismiss Ursula Andress or Stella Stevens so easily? And did you check out Nancy Kovack (OUTSTANDING) and the practically unknown Beverly Powers (Hills)? If you ever catch "The Cheap Detective" let me know what you think of Ann-Margret...she practically ignites the nitrate.

reply

I like them all but not Carolyn Jones or Annette Day.

reply

Yes, I still retain Lane in the no. 1 spot. Not that I just dismissed the others such as Stella or Ursula, but we were only limited to 3 selections from this fine cadry. Stella was close, I thought Ursula was a level below the others. And again, I need more exposure to the other girls you mentioned as I just don't have enough data to evaluate them properly.

Maybe we should have another face-off for favorite "famous" sex symbol of all time so Raquel can get into a contest. Let me see if I can start this list off - Raquel Welch, Sophia Loren, Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot. What others do you think might qualify?

reply

Ah...throwing in the qualifier "famous" I see...which eliminates many of the "sex symbols" that lack the celebrity but certainly not the sexiness. Not to expand the discussion but merely to further define it, the four candidates you listed can be, as I see it, subdivided into two categories: Dominant and Submissive. Raquel and Sophia can be defined as Dominant, while Marilyn and Brigette are Submissive. Rather than go into detail on what each category heading means, just for fun, I'll let another poster do so, and see what sort of answers we get.

reply

Yes, I would be interested in other posters' comments on both your category separation and any other choices they might have to include to our select cadry. This might not be the right forum to do that as, of course, the vastly underappreciated and little known Jocelyn's page might not be visited by many members. In the meantime, I have one more that might qualify - Elizabeth Taylor? What do you think.

reply

Not much time to reply...New Year's Eve and all but Elizabeth Taylor from ages 16 to 25 or so was a stunning creature and was paired with MUCH older men in the films she starred in at that time. Mature beyond her years, she was convincing in those roles. Then she got fat. Grace Kelly, though a bit older but still in her 20s, was also paired with MUCH older men, and had affairs with all of them. Taylor was sexy, Kelly was a Goddess, but evidenced sex appeal only in "Rear Window".

Regarding Elvis' sexiest leading ladies I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Michelle Cary (Live a Little, Love a Little).

reply

Thanks for bringing up Michele Carey from "Live a Little, Love a Little" (1968), easily one of the top females to appear in an Elvis flick. I can't believe everyone else omitted her.

reply

Nobody had the face and body of Jocelyn Lane. I put all the others far behind her in sheer beauty!

reply

Agree big time. Both her face and body were exquisite.

...intriguing gal....

I'm with you on Jocelyn Lane! I still can't quite find the right adjectives to describe how good looking she was. Stunning just doesn't seem to do her justice. Ann-Margret ranks high with me too. I agree that Shelley and Mary Anne kind of go in a separate category of beautiful and sweet. There didn't seem to be anything sweet about Jocelyn! I've watched a lot of her movies and would be interested to see some pictures and info about her today. Can't seem to find anything with google.

EPE, if you're reading this, please try to talk Jocelyn Lane into an Elvis Week appearance!

1. Ann-Margret was Never sexier than she was on 1964...
2. Jocelyn Lane
3. Debra Paget
4. Mary Ann. Mobley
5. Yvonne Craig

------------
Are the 5 sexiest women in Elvis films... We're talking SEXY not cute or sisterly like Shelly Fabares, much too skinny and Sisterly to ever be considered in the top 5 or 10 for that matter SEXY... I didn't even mention Juliet Prowse who's legs were sexier than all of them, save AM and Jocelyn. Saying Shelly Fabares is the sexiest Elvis girl should truly get your eyes snd schnitzel checked ...unless its women saying it then I understand when hotties like Yvonne Craig Jocelyn Lane & AM show their legs snd cleavage it most likely naked women jealous ... Those top 5 or 6 including Juliet Prowse are the Sexiest women EASILY in any Elvis movies... All 6 if them have made my schnitzel hard without even touching myself ...

reply

Jocelyn Lane by miles. Man oh man, in those short shorts and bikini.

Coming up after is Ann Margaret and while more cute than sexy, Yvonne Craig. I think it's from her Batgirl days.

Still, overall, Jocelyn Lane had everything.

Obviously you haven't seen Michele Carey in "Live a Little, Love a Little" (1968).

reply

I have the seven year itch since my posting back in 2006.

I want to go down memory "Lane", and state again for the record. Its Jocelyn by miles, due to her matchless face and form. Good call M_Wonderful.
