What does the title mean?

I enjoyed this Elvis romp, but I can't associate the title with the movie.

Why ain't you at the garden party you heathen?

I guess it's a reference to the movie's silly
comedy.

What the heck, they needed a catchy title to sell the movie. Would you have gone to see a movie called "It's a Long Lonely Highway"?

What do you mean "What the heck, they needed a catchy title to sell the movie."? Have you not looked at the trivia for this movie?

Elvis made this film in a deal with the floundering Allied Artists which saw him take a pay cut and not record any new material in exchange for 50% of the film's profits. The film was a big earner, which is credited in saving Allied Artists from bankruptcy.

It may not have been a hit if it came out today, but back then, what ever they did must have worked. Maybe just having Elvis in a movie was enough.

If you found out that your fav actor was in a movie would you want to see it?
Now what if you found out that the movie was called "I am Pig"?

Now what if you found out it was just that actor rolling around in mud with some pigs pretending that they are a pig?

That was part of the story in a movie staring Al Pacino, this star becomes so big that it doesn't matter what they do, everybody loves them.

It's quite obvious that you have never seen this movie. I am well aware of the behind-the-scenes-details of the making of this movie. It's just that if you had seen "Tickle Me", you would have known that the opening theme is Elvis singing "It's A Long Lonely Highway". For Christ's sake, lighten up!!!!!

The title means......sit down, shut up, have fun watching Elvis be Elvis.

Good grief. Why all the moaning and complaining about Elvis movies?

EVERYONE with half a brain knew what you were getting with an Elvis movie...hot babes, Elvis singing, just fun times. Just like the Beach Blanket movies.

Relax and enjoy. You can always watch the news if you want to be depressed.

One day short of four years later, I thank you. "Tickle Me" happens to be one of my very favorite Elvis movies, primarily because of the way it integrates already-recorded Elvis songs into the plot (rather than songs written especially for the movie).

As for that person I had answered those four long years ago. Geez, they read just one movie history book, and all of a sudden, they think they're Leonard Maltin!

I had the same question, as the dreaded tickling sequence never materialized. I've always thought there must have been some guy whose job was to title all of Elvis' movies without having seen 'em:

"Let's see...'Gals! Gals! Gals! Gals!'...no....(did we already use that?)...'Rhumbaville, USA!'...no...'Gal-A-Palooza!'...no, no...'Elvis Sings, Socks Some Guys, and Scores!'...too long...'Rumble Seat', no...'Booby Trap!'...no...'Tickle Party'...hmmm, not bad...got it, 'Tickle Me!'...!
