Do you know where I can get a copy of the original song?

reply

I just saw the movie too, and I'll be hearing that song all night. Was it written for the film?

reply

A search on AllMusic.Com provides no info on the origins of the song, but it was covered in a 35 second version by the Electric Eels in 1975 - It's definitely the same song! No author listed tho . . . .

reply

Yes, by composed James Bernard. He regarded it as "an embarrassment" - http://www.independent.co.uk/news/obituaries/james-bernard-729242.html

Yes, I'd love to hear that song again, and see the film. No DVD, I think.

Awesome!

Yes, what Band did the original song ?

This is wild - I had doubted there would be ANY comments for this film, and yet I too heard of it/watched it for the first time last night, and I can't get that song out of my head either!

This was whacked yet really cool film - it's as if the director got hired to do a cheapo sci-fi thriller... and decided to sneak in an art film in the middle of it!

reply

cannot get it out of my head either, reminded me of Brazil another film where carqacters sing the soundtrack

I just nipped out onto Newland Ave and hummed it as I menaced some people at the bus stop with my black leather gloves and truculent demeanour.

I didn't see anything in the film's credits to indicate what the song title is, or who performed it. I'm curious.

That insanely groovy theme song was simply priceless.

"We're all part Shatner/And part James Dean/Part Warren Oates/And Steven McQueen"

reply

WOW I cannnnnnnnnnnot believe that THIS SONG was never released!

IT IS so perfect for this movie!

When Shirley AF sings a few lines, as she is leading MC to the gang, was a great moment. Like something out of Kill Pussycat Kill.
I just watched the movie. After I deleted it, I remembered I wanted to watch that scene again. Oh well.

I'm disappointed there's no credit for the band on song on IMDB.

However, here's a link to the movie version of the song on YouTube:

If the link doesn't work, search for "Damned" and "Black Leather" clip as posted by "DTKIN"
