I just read the latest in the endless parade of books about the F. Scott Fitzgeralds and learned that the character of Rosemary was based on a 17 year old actress named Lois Moran. Fitzgerald fell in love with her briefly while in Hollywood, just as Dick Divers falls for Rosemary Hoyt. Jill St. John was an absolute doll in the role.

The film was an unmitigated disaster, a complete waste of money. St. John did the best she could, which was never much, but she married well, so she's doing okay.
