A 'cursed' DVD?

I was glad to see Alpha was going to release this obscure little gem, with the lovely Adrienne Corri. I've picked up a number of Alpha titles over the years, always at a nice price, even if the quality of the prints used in their releases are hit and miss. But with TELL TALE HEART, I'm encountering a repeated problem I've never experienced before: Every copy of this I've bought has been physically damaged, making it unplayable. My first copy had come loose in the case and was badly scratched. I returned it to the store, only to find the replacement copy was cracked. I took it to a different store in the same retail chain, and again the replacement was scratched up, causing the disk to lock up. So far, I'm still in the process of trying to get it exchanged for a non-defective DVD. (And I know of someone who ordered a copy of the film, only to find--when it arrived in the mail--it was damaged and unplayable as well.) Maybe one day Image will see fit to release a nice, restored print as part of their EuroShock Collection. (What I have been able to see of the Alpha DVD reveals it was taken from a rather worn-out print.)

Did a loud heartbeat accompany each failed attempt to see the movie? :>)
