Stupendously Rancid

So many questions. Why did Mature's voice come and go? Sometimes it was him sounding like he had laryngitis while at other times it wasn't him at all.

Why was his outfit more suited to ancient Greece than the Steppes? All his other countrymen wore pants, yet he had a tiny skirt with garters to hold up his socks. And he also shaved his legs. Ludicrous.

At least Orson wasn't dubbed even partially. And poor Richard Thorpe; he directed this like some no name Italian director. The fights weren't as good as the dances. One hopes, at least, that the cast got a decent holiday in still very Communist Yugoslavia.

Oh, I almost forgot, this was one of Folco Lulli's bravest moments.

Let it be unsaid: insignificance is the locus of true increpation.

Definitely a low point for Welles. I couldn't help but notice how bored he looked the entire time. And you're right about the costumes - Ridiculous looking and wildy inaccurate.
