One-Tony Curtis -not only too old but a Jewish Cossack?
Two-why didn't Taras ask Andrei for an explanation before killing him?
Three-why did Andrei have to lead the Poles on the raid?Sure;y there were Polish cavalry officers?
Four-earlier scene-couldn't the Cossack have simply apologised for calling Andrei a coward when it had been proved that he wasn't?

Four - because that's what this version of Taras Bulba wanted: describing Cossack as barbaric men (along with other scenes of their parties before the war)

1 Just laughable!
2 I think we are supposed to accept that in Taras's eyes Andrei had committed the ultimate in crimes, appearing to switch sides against the Cossacks. It was a case of shoot first, ask questions afterwards.
3 I think (a) it was recognized that Andrei had special horse equestrian skills that might allow him to pull off the difficult raid (b)The Polish commander enjoyed playing the Cossacks off against one another.
4 No, Taras says something along the lines of "there ate some words that simply cannot be uttered without retribution occurring".
I'm actually not defending this film which I personally thought was a real dud.🐭
