"More Than Just A Friend"....Varese Sarabande released the soundtracks to both the 1945 and 1962 versions of STATE FAIR on one CD a few years ago. The song is on it.
The song, iffy as it is, may have been more charming sung by Arthur Godfrey. Pre-production ad work bills Godfrey as the star of the film, placing the emphasis on the father, as in the Will Rogers original, and I'll wager the song was written with him in mind.
