Horrible and phony

The flood scene was one of the worst phony special effects scene's I've seen in a long time.

Plus, I could see rubber tire tracks in the sand.

Did they have stirrups on the saddles in that era? I seem to remember a mistake in the movie Gladiator, with Russell Crowe, that stirrups had not been invented yet. This totally predated that.
