What could have saved this movie?

From the same era that brought us Ben Hur, 10 Commandmants, now came this trash.

This movie is really horrible at many levels. As a franco-italian-american production, I would think the director would be more daring to depict the debauchery but it was rather withheld.

Which led me thinking - what this movie needed was a touch of Caligula.

Well, I think the problem was that it was too "clean". When going for Sodom and Gomorrah, there is no way to tell it except for the way it is. Only a few directors styles could pull it off today to get it an "R" rating like Paul Thomas Anderson, David Lynch or David Cronenberg, et al...but it would be really, really tough for audiences...

I didn't like Caligula..I thought it was too calm. Love to see that one done today too.
