A remake?

Why not re-make Sodom and Gomorrah too? I mean with the touchy subject of homosexuality has now included in mainstream movies (namely BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN), I'm sure a movie of such degree that includes religious themes (already done by THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST and THE NATIVITY STORY) and punishments would be an idea too.

Though I would foresee that they would be protests among the gay community.

So what you guys think?

reply

They should tackle the incest thing too while they're at it.

reply

Yeah, I seriously doubt if the gay community would enjoy seeing a re-make of this film unless Hollywood agreed to make a few changes to the Biblical story, like showing Sodom emerging victorious over God at the end.

reply

If it was Biblically accurate, it would also have to show Lot taking his daughters as his wives. The Sodom and Gomorrah story continues to fascinate because it's just fraught with tawdry tidbits from beginning to end!

reply

Well technically the daughters concocted a plan to take advantage of a drunken Lot, rather than the other way around. But yes, include all of it.

reply

The Hollywood community does not like releasing Bible movies. They tend not to do too well in the box office. I think the only way to do this story without ticking off the masses is to somewhat modernize it or ignore the homosexuality aspect. It would be a delicate balance to appease all. Maybe a Dogma style could do it. Kevin Smith, are you there???

reply

A remake that retains the religious content but cranks up the sex and nudity for shock value would be kind of awesome. Paul Verhoeven should direct it.

The OP should not quit his day job.

And, uh, singi John? “If” is the condition sense. If requires “were,” not “was.” You are ignorant. You fit right in online.

How's this for a remake - NEW YORK AND LOS ANGELES?
