US release from Fox Cinema Archives (March 2014)

Sodom and Gomorrah finally comes to US DVD as the latest release on the Fox Cinema Archives MOD line.

Unfortunately, as with almost all widescreen films released in this series, this DVD will not be letterboxed but so-called "full screen", typical of the disgraceful and dismissive way in which Fox has been issuing titles on its FCA label.

The only mitigating factor is that the film's true aspect ratio is only 1.85:1, meaning that a presentation in a 1.33:1 a.r. isn't as egregious a loss of the film's picture as it would be had it been shot in CinemaScope's 2.35:1 format.

Release dates vary slightly from site to site but the film is on sale as of this date (3/20/14) and will become more widely available within the next week or two. Prices likewise vary, but the usual price is about $19.99, again, the standard cost of an FCA release. No extras, of course.
