Way back in the 1970s ...

... when WOR from New York telecast a double feature of horror/science fiction movies every Saturday morning, "The Slime People" was one of the films. If my memory serves me correctly, it was usually teamed up with other films with similar titles, i.e. "The Gamma People" and "The Mole People."

As a child, I realized this was a poor film during the instances when it aired, but that didn't stop me from watching it. I do distinctly remember my mother commenting back then she didn't like it, particularly the gurgling sound made by the slime monsters.

I just watched it. It was on Offbeat Cinema from Buffalo, NY.

Very slimey indeed.

And we must not forget to put in a good word for scientists. Lucky thing there are scientists to help out when things start to get slimey. Right?

I have an image in my head of a strange monster being speared in the chest and as blood spewed from the hollow spear an oddly disturbing gurgling sound could be heard. I have had this memory since I was a small child in the late 70's. I never knew what movie it was from. now after all these years I happened across a review of this movie on the net and it came back to me. it was this movie, the slime people, and I can't remember anything else about it except it was hazy/foggy. maybe it was watching shlock like this as a kid that made me such a fan of b movies to this day (thank you roger corman).

Does anyone watch local TV anymore?

reply

Yes. Local tv is now national tv. WOR (or parts of it) is now seen around the country as mynetworktv, for instance.

though the mosnter sounds were pretty good compared to the times movies and what sounds those creatures made.
