One Of My Favorite Zs

Memorable scenes at the municipal airport and the very, very convenient TV station. Judee Morton was a very cute little lady. Robert Hutton and Les Tremayne were excellent in Slime. Different(but very heavy?) munster suits. Nice pace, also.

While technically this is a dog of a movie, I've always had a soft spot for it. The monsters are actually kind of cool looking, if cheaply constructed, and they don't skimp on showing them. The slurping, gurgling sound effects are also nicely realized. The biggest problem is the overuse of the "fog" effect, which tends to obscure the action a bit too much.

Watching it again yesterday made me notice some similarities with Night of the Living Dead, probably coincidental.

The companion Hutton-Robertson Production The Crawling Hand is also fun, but not as memorable as The Slime People.

reply

Perhaps the fog was steam being released from beneath the surface.

Fun movie. The producers played it straight, but didn't take themselves too seriously.

reply

Agreed. This film is loads of cruddy fun. Les Tremayne was hilarious as a crazy writer with a pet goat.

I'm a totally bitchin' bio writer from Mars!

The slime people had pretty good costumes for a low budget movie. They actually were scary looking.

reply

The costumes were certainly memorable. Somehow a significant percentage of these low budget movies are fun and memorable.
