I read that TSUBAKI SANJURO was originally going to be a stand-alone movie and they re-wrote it as a sequel to YOJIMBO at the last minute. No wonder it’s such an uneven mess. At times, it’s bad because it’s not like the 1st movie at all. At other times, it’s bad because it tries way too hard to copy the 1st movie. They should’ve found a middle ground and make it similar but unique (like the best sequels are).

Leí que TSUBAKI SANJURO originalmente iba a ser una película aparte y la re-escribieron como una secuela de YOJIMBO al último minuto. Con razón es un desastre tan desequilibrado. A veces, es mala porque no es como la 1ra película para nada. Otras veces, es mala porque trata demasiado de copiarle a la 1ra película. Deberían haber encontrado un punto medio y hacerla similar pero única (como las mejores secuelas son).

Ho letto che TSUBAKI SANJURO originalmente stava per essere un film da solo e l'hanno riscritto come un seguito di YOJIMBO all'ultimo minuto. Per forza è un casino così sbilanciato. A volte, è cattivo perchè non è come il 1mo film per niente. Altre volte, è cattivo perchè tenta troppo di copiare il 1mo film. Dovrebbero aver trovato una via di mezzo e farlo similare ma unico (come i migliori seguiti sono).
