Unemployment Office Scene

Took me back years ago, everything's computerized now...you don't even have to come in now!(After 1st visit!)

A totally different world, indeed. Often times, you don't even get a first visit. Things were done with a phone call back then. I don't go back that far but I can remember what it was like to meet with an employment agency rep and have her get on the phone and talk me into an interview, just on the strength of the rep's impression of me and the regard that the employer held the rep in.

Another big difference: No woman is going to chase down a man after meeting him in the unemployment office. Also, nowadays employment office workers act as if they could care less whether you find a job. This lady followed him into a bar to help him get an interview.

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."

Rocky II also had a similar scene with Balboa speaking to an employment manager after his initial retirement. Pretty obvious that Stalone lifted that scene from Requiem for a Heavyweight(along with many other elements). Still love both films though.

Stallone lifted scenes and camera angles from many 1950's films.
