What an excellent movie

This is a true classic.
Great actors, and sfx is not that bad either.

A remake of this movie could be fun:)

It's fun to think that there are two versions of the film. A danish and US, not only diffrent in language but in cutting. The "Worst" special effects: Acid vomit + cut-out farmer entree' are not in the DK version alone with the longer tour of Copenhaugen and Tivoli, plus Reptilicus attack on Tivoli.
Scenes in the DK version includes a song with Dirch Passer and some lovestory scenes between Svend Viltorft and Prof. Otto Martens daughter and very odd scene where most of the crew goes to the country side for bit of R&R.
I don't get why they removed this scene from the US cut. Is the part where you acctually gets to see Reptilicus fly. Not a bad made effect either.

I just watched this and I'm trying to figure out WHICH version I just saw!! I THINK the voice track was the original Danish actors (they all had accents, and the 'american' guy seemed like he was trying a little too hard to sound American.) The Copenhagen tour was pretty long. The song sang by the girl in Tivoli is still there.

But.. The acid vomit and cut out farmer are definitely present, and I was watching really closely to see Reptilicus fly, but to no avail.. And with such cool Wingalings..

In which segment does reptilicus fly? I kept yelling for him to just take off, and acid spit them from the air, but he didn't listen.

I wonder if they were inspired by creature from the black lagoon.. fossilized body part found by scientists, and studied, leads to HORRIBLE CREATURE!!

El Muerte, you definitely saw the American release, which I just watched. The song that was cut from the Danish version (which I wish I could see) was by the night watchman, Peterson! This actor, according to his IMDB bio, was Denmark's greatest comic!
I saw this movie as a kid, when it first came out, and did not remember it as being this dreadful. I also remember the novelization, which had a pretty racy sex scene between the younger daughter and one of the guys.
But the oddest trivia about this strange little flick was that it, along with two other B-movie monsters of that time, became the stars of their own comic books, released by a lesser-known comic publisher called Charlton. Reptilicus, Gorgo, and Konga each lasted for about 20 issues or so, and featured artwork (though not consistently) by Steve Ditko, who was the original artist for Spider-Man during that same period.
Reptilicus, perhaps for some bizarre contractual or marketing reasons, was renamed 'Reptisaurus' after a couple of issues, and the comics are pretty hard to find these days, though they were never in great demand. They were even difficult to find on the stands when they came out. I remember having to bike to small Cuban groceries in Miami in order to find Charlton Comics on the racks. DC later acquired the rights to Charlton's superheroes, like the Blue Beetle, Captain Atom, and the Question, but it would be fun if they brought back Reptilicus and his ilk as well.

If this guy was the greatest Danish comic, then these folks would IDOLIZE Doodles Weaver. I remember Charlton. "Charlton Comics Give you More!" More pages I guess. I had "Gorgo."

hell yeah!! that girl singing about "..Tivoli days,Tivoli nights.." rocks!..Unfortunately those are the only lyrics i know (or remember)

I don't think it was ever dubbed. They simply filmed each scene twice, with the Danish actors speaking Danish and with the Danish actors speaking (really bad) English.

Dirch Passer is indeed a legend in Danish film history, but this role is not typical for him in any way. But then, Denmark is a small country and especially in the 60s, all movies featured pretty much the same actors...

The idea that monster can regenrate its self was the only interesting thing about this movie.

An unfortunate turn of events. Well, there are other sites out there on Sid Pink and this title. Quite a salesman Pink was. His life story would make a fascinating study.

As for me, I not only know Christ Jesus, I am also known by Him.

I though the effects were really disappointing even for the early sixties; the poisionous spit looked really bad. In fact, I only really liked the part where the creature ate the family.

I think the acting and the effects were all terrible but adorably so. I didn't feel sad or depressed once while I watched Reptilicus and I would recommend it to others in my AA group.
