This film gripped me from beginning to end. It was so realistic. If only current Hollywood made films like this.

So true. Have you seen Pontecorvo's "Battle of Algiers"? If not I think you'll enjoy that one as well, these films remind me of each other, the way they look and what not.

Yes, I have. You are right, they are very similar in feel. Both great movies.

One of the biggest scenes for me was when the women of Naples all banded together and defied the Nazi's to shoot them after watching their men being slaughtered like alley cats.
