Do we ever see his face? I missed the first 30 minutes of this, and noticed that throughout the end of the movie, we never see the condemned man's face. Even as he leaves his cell for execution there is a priest or warder in front of him.

That's a really nice piece of direction. Like I said earlier, I'd noticed in the last hour, although he's talked about constantly, we never saw his face...even at the point of execution.
