She didn't have to...(spoilers)

His sister didn't have to shoot him...she could have just shoot at the air, I think he would have stopped at the sound of a gun long enough for the doctor to knock him down. Of course it adds to the drama that the (undoubtedly doomed from the start) character dies, but really. It seemed a bit extreme.

I agree. Much realistic is shooting in the air.

reply

Or she could've shot him in a non lethal area like the leg or arm.

Kate killed her brother in order to put him out of his misery. He was too far gone by that point. It was a mercy killing.

BTW the worst would be to fire a warning shot in the air. That would not stop someone who was crazed like that and bent on killing. The best place would be the leg or hand as stated above in order to make him drop the improvised weapon (shovel).

reply

Yes, I agree, it was a mercy killing. You could see he was gone in the head, albeit he was right about his wife.

reply

I'm with Jason. Guy was already disturbed before his interment, so after "too far gone". IMHO Kate couldn't take a chance.

But she could have paid a little more attention when her beloved brother was about to be buried alive, perhaps?

I agree. But still, he deserved another chance because after all, it was Emily who drove him crazy. She could still have shot him on his leg.

My pain is constant and sharp, and I do not hope for a better world for anyone.

If I'm on the ground with a maniac standing over me, about to behead me with the blade of a shovel, I think I'd prefer the maniac take a clean headshot with a large caliber bullet.

reply

Agreed, I can understand that the situation would be pressing, to say the least.

But as far as I recall, they weren't in a very close proximity and he was his brother who wasn't responsible for his 'state', so a shot to his leg seems to be more righteous.

I can feel the devil walking next to me.
