It was kind of lame how when the Phantom confronts Ambrose d'Arcy at the end, all he does is show him his face, and d'Arcy gets scared and runs away comically.

Hardly a proportionate revenge.

I think it's because it shows that the Phantom is actually good. He never actually killed anyone, and the hunchbacked mute is the "second Phantom", the one who actually murders people in the Opera house, and not under orders from the Phantom...he acts on his own.

If I wrote the script I would have had the Phantom throw a bottle of acid in D'Arcy's face to get what he deserved.
