Does Phaedra exist on tape or CD? I rented it in a video store in New Mexico about 10 years ago, so it must have been produced, or perhaps, bootlegged. Does anyone know where I can get a copy?

shareTurner network in atlanta has Phaedra on VHS. If you are able to get a copy it is well worth the effort. In an almost final scene Melina goes to tell her husband that Tony cannot marry the social lite because she loves him. However, she tells him while he is in conference with the relatives of the crew that went down with his flagship PHAEDRA. It is a grim scene. So in the end tony drives off a cliff in his sports car.
shareWell, without giving away the entire ending, (as it's already been done), I'll tell you that yes, it was released on VHS. A teacher of mine had an old copy. However, as far as I know, it's very difficult to get a hold of. Maybe eBay... A European company released the soundtrack which has several tracks directly from the film. The last track, taken directly from Anthony Perkins' final scene with Bach in the car is great. That's probably about as close as you can get right now.
shareI saw this movie over and over again in the 60s. I will not belabor the point by asking if anybody knows if it can be found, but I will keep checking back here and searching on Ebay. I myself MAY very well have a RECORD of the soundtrack somewhere. One corner was eaten by the dog, but the disk was intact, if I can just find it.

shareDVD will be released through MGM Home Entertainment at the end of July. However this is a U.S. only release. No plans for an international release at the moment.
shareAre you sure MGM is releasing the DVD at the end of July? A search at Amazon.com for Melina Mercouri turns up that 10:30 PM Summer (MGM World Films) (1966) is being released on July 24. There is no mention of Phaedra.

Auctions of the video are not infrequently held at eBay. I have participated in them several times, but always been outdone by someone else. The price usually will end about 150 Euro.
With such highly prices one should expect that there would be a marked for a DVD version. But whenver I have mentioned this movie on any imdb-board, hardly any other users have shown any interest.
Strictly speaking, I know that a Greek edition is planned. But the road from the plan to the release might be so long that I would not even dare to guess whether I am still alive when the time comes.
I'm sorry, MGM only holds the U.S. distribution rights, so I can't speak to when there will be an international release. The release coming out at the end of July will be for Region 1 only.
