enjoyable post nuclear romp ***spoilers***

i thought this was pretty good as nuclear Armageddon stories go. tcm had a bunch of end of the world movies on on dec 21st and this was by far the best.
the beatnik kids were a bit irritating but then it was 1962.
one question though. when they got to the park, they pulled the bridge down to stop people following them. then when the son gets shot we see them on the road zooming along. if they didn't rebuild the bridge how did they get out? and if there was another way in, what was the point in pulling it down in the first place.
anyway apart from that minor quibble, all in all a solid if unspectacular film, held together by ray milland.

Pointless witty comment here ...

I agree! The scene too when they stop off at the "Saddle Peak Lodge"----You think a waitress would be wanting to be working and waiting tables at some diner when there is a nucleur war going on?

When he took the bridge down, Harry made the comment that 'that cuts off one avenue of attack' and also that 'there's no such thing as complete isolation'.

I presume that Marilyn told him about other routes and roads that he could use, as she was a local. And remember that the Baldwin family had been there before, so Harry had at least some familiarity with the area.

The point of pulling down the bridge was to limit the access points to the area. How do you think the other couple got their. They came up afterwords. There must have been another access point.
