A different Ambrose Bierce story

I remember seeing another film version of an Ambrose Bierce short story involving this couple. The girl suddenly went into and stayed in an unconcious state and the guy thought she was dead. In the night, he hears a roar and gets the gun to shoot it. When he wakes up in the morning, the girl is covered in blood. Can anyone tell me what the name of this story was?
