Estelle Winwood .... in the wheelchair.

LOVE. HER. looks exactly like she did in The Producers and Murder by Death... and her best friend (acc to IMDB) was Tallulah Bankhead. looks like she did mostly TV appearances. Lemmon & Novak would make four films together, & "Toast of the Town." N.L. was better than expected, after reading the reviews in COMMENTS section; screenplay by B Edwards (Pink Panther) & L Gelbart (MASH). While Lemmon never really acts like an official from the State Dept, its still a fun story.

I agree. This is utterly delightful. I hadn't seen it since it was on TV in the late 60s. I'd forgotten so much, including the superb chase scene at the end to the music of Gilbert and Sullivan. That ending is obviously Blake Edwards' doing.
The picture is a lot of fun. It's now in the Jack Lemmon collection that's been released on dvd. Don't listen to the main comments about this, rent it and enjoy yourself!

This movie is fun, and Lemmon and Novak intriguing, but the final part with the wheelchair was too "madcap" for my tastes, too silly, in other words, but the plot twists as per who killed the husband, and the rest of it, were interesting.

Susana Miranda, whatever happened to you?

About the music... The only credit for the score went to George Duning. Strange how the considerable amount of interpolated music written by George Gershwin and also by Arthur Sullivan received no credits. Surely the producers must have had to get the necessary clearance to use at least the Gershwin music (A Foggy Day In London Town)?
