Jonathan Coe

My favourite book ever is a novel called WHAT A CARVE UP, by Jonathan Coe(1994).It tells the story of Michael Owen, a man who's writing a book about a wealthy and mysterious family, the Winshaws;the man is obsessed with the movie WHAT A CARVE UP, which he saw when he was a kid, and especially with a scene:the one where one of the main characters is entering by mistake in Shirley Eaton's bedroom.
Does anyone else know the book?

In the US it went under the title The Winshaw Legacy.

finished it 5 minutes ago. The first part, I mean (we have to read it for a postmodernism course in Antwerp University). I will now start part 2, which is based upon this film, right? :)

The professor showed us this film as well, by the way, by means of an illustration. We loved it to pieces, so I was rather startled when I saw it only getting about 6.5 on IMDb.

Definitely one of, if not the, best novel of the 1990's IMHO.
I'd never heard of the movie before. Would like to see it - or at least, that scene...
