DVD or VHS release containing spoken prologue

Does anyone know of an obtainable version of this film that retains the spoken prologue by Paul Frees? I have the UK DVD of "Night Of The Eagle" and the US VHS of the MGM Midnite Movies "Burn Witch Burn". Neither one has the prologue.

reply

Yes, I just watched the film before writing this and it does indeed have the intro. I received this film in trade from another collector and I believe he deliberately added the intro when making this DVD. As in my catchy signature you can see that I do love to trade copies of films, so please let me know if you'd like a copy of this one.

The Image laserdisc has it for Burn Witch Burn it also has the British titles after the movie.

This prologue was added for the US theatrical release of the film. The UK prints, Night of the Eagle, do not contain it.

reply

Right,I have the British edition DVD of this movie and the prologue is not there...

I recently watched the new MGM DVD-R copy and it does contain the spoken prologue.

Okay, so I am six years late on this, and a brand new Blu-Ray special edition of the film was released yesterday (08/25/2015), but I dug up my old laserdisc copy and can confirm the prologue is there.

I just watched the streaming version on n-flix and it has the prologue. Funny though, as it played I was positive I was hearing Orson Welles. After watching I came here to read about it, and saw the Paul Frees reference. Turns out Welles and Frees were virtual sound-alikes, and often filled in dubbing for each other.

Am watching B,W,B on TCM right now, and I, too was SURE I was listening to Orson Welles providing the prologue!
