Yes, Evelyn (Byron)'s disappearance from the story 10 mins in is unfortunate both because Byron makes anything better and because the two scenes with Evelyn and Flora in them seem to hint that that they're allies (part of a coven/conspiracy together, or some such thing). I was expecting Byron's character to reappear and was disappointed when she didn't.
