Janet Blair's Performance Was Wonderful

And the key to this being a first echelon film in the horror genre! Makes you wonder about an actor's fate. Why didn't she get more starring roles? She was much prettier than a Betty Davis. Also rare is the depiction of witchcraft as a force of good or at least not harmful to others. Peter Wyngarde was also outstanding as the professor who doesn't believe in any kind of mumbo jumbo, including his wife's. Many people never watch horror movies because of prejudice. That is their misfortune!

Ironically, Janet Blair was cast because she was an over-the-hill American actress and therefore ideal fodder to appear as the lead in a cheap UK shot movie.

Everybody was great in this movie, but I was blown away by Margaret Johnston.

Pity the movie didn't focus more on Tansy in the second half, as Janet Blair had created the movie's most interesting character. Instead we get overtime with grumpy Norman who'd well and truly forgotten the truism about a Happy Life and a Happy Wife.🐭
